It is ok to eat salmon but in my pregnancy book it says no more than 12oz of fish a week. I eat spicy food but not very often because it can cause heartburn. Here are some great websites with a ton of information babycenter.com & babyzone.com

There is a myth that says spicy foods induce labor, but that is not the case. Spicy foods are just fine to eat while you're pregnant.
Seafood (I'm including freshwater animals in that statement) on the otherhand should be avoided. Occasional servings aren't too bad, especially if it's fresh, but it's not the best food to eat in pregnancy. The reason for this is that is twofold. First, seafood is ripe with bacterias and goes bad quickly, which isn't an issue if the food is properly prepared, but you still run a greater risk of food poisoning. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, mercury levels can run high in seafood, especially in canned and packaged seafood. The mercury is a result of polution, and while it would take a lot of seafood eating to give you mercury poisoning, your baby can't handle it as well in the womb or possibly via breast milk. Research is still ongoing, but mercury exposure during pregnancy has been linked to many disorders (such as autism), and to general slow development. High levels of mercury during pregnancy will make you sick and possibly lead to severe problems or death to your child.

Yes, it is safe to eat moderate amounts of the mentioned foods. Take is easy on the spicy because you are more susceptible to heart burn and other bodily discomforts.
As long as you keep it moderate, the child will not be harmed.
Some people are just overly paranoid, so I would ignore them and do what feels right and natural for you and your baby.

You are not supposed to eat sushi while pregnant, because the fish in sushi (especially tuna) can contain dangerously high amounts of mercury. The mercury won't hurt you but could damage your developing baby's brain. Stick to california rolls and tempura until after your baby is born. You should also avoid eating cooked fish more than once a week for the same reason.

I would limit the fish intake to 12-15oz a week. As far as spicy foods, its what you can handle. I love spicy food and ate it through all my pregnancys....
