Find it out? Why don't you try to ask for help approaching the answer instead of 'finding' it for you. So what if we do? You would end up failing your tests and exams and will have to re-take the course.

Look at number 1.

The equation is 3x + 2(x-1) = 8

What is in front of the parenthese? It's a positive 2, being multiplied to what is in the parenthese (remember that parentheses can also be represented as multiplication). Distribute that to each of the term in the parenthese, which will give you...

2(x - 1)

2 * x = 2x
and
2 * -1 = -2

Now, rewrite your equation:

3x + 2x -2 = 8

What are the same on the left side of the equal sign? The 3x and 2x, because they have a coefficient and variable "x". Combine the like-terms (this is what they are know as, like terms).

Add it together to give you 5x. Rewrite your new equation.

5x - 2 = 8

Now, we need to get rid of the 2 because we want to get X by itself. What is the opposite of a negative 2? A positive 2.

Add +2 to both sides, meaning on the left and right of the equal sign because in math, what you do to one side, you do to the other. You add because you must do the opposite of whatever sign is in front of the number you are trying to get rid of.

5x - 2 + 2 = 8 + 2

The +2 will cancel the -2 on the left side, which will leave 5x by itself.

5x = 10

Look at 5x. The 5 is being multiplied to the X, and we are trying to get X by itself. How can we cancel the 5? We do the opposite of multiplication, which is division. So divide BOTH sides by 5, because what you do to one side, you do to the other to balance out the equation.

5x/5 = 10/5

5 divided by 5 equals what? A 1. So that will be 1x or x.

10 divided by 5 equals to what? A 2.

x = 2

Learn to distribute and combining like terms. If you understand that, you won't have too difficult of a time solving it.

You have to get the unknown on one side. So, for example, in #1, multiply 2 x X - 2 x 1. Then combine the x's and divide them to equal just x. Put x on one side to find what it equals. hope this helps.
