Like the previous guy said, Germans have to go through an intensive schooling to become drivers. So unless we start educating our drivers, it won't matter what age you raise the driving age to, we'll still have the same idiots on the road. Education would have a greater effect since it would reduce the number of idiots that get through the training and become drivers.

I think it would make it difficult for young people to get to work. When I was stationed in Germany I got to know how they do things there. In Germany you have to take a four month driving course and you can't get your license until you are eighteen. the class is really intensive and I have noticed that people are safer drivers over there.

It would hinder independence on young adults in areas where mass transit is limited and result in expensive traffic citations for illegally driving.
