Something had to start the universe but what? For those who believe in god i ask who made god and the one before that and before that etc...

That is lifes biggest mystery. Yet, if there is no God, where did this perfect earth come from ? The sun, that gives light and life to plants that sustains us, the pure water we need to survive, the human body, that is a miracle in itself. The whole package tied together in a neat bundle. Did it come from the 'big bang" or evolution. I think not. It`s not for us to question or reason, just to wonder and believe there is a reason for all of this.

Your question has no answer. It is just like argument for egg first or chicken first.
If creator or god create universe, then where is creator or god?
If creator or god is in universe, then what create universe?
....
I just can give you my opinion, not answer:
I do believe there is creator or god exists.
But, creator or god does not like what said in Bible.
In my believe, creator or god is some sort like energy (basic).
This basic energy create universe during Big Bang.
This basic energy still found everywhere in universe.
But, how does this basic energy created?
In mathematics, 0 = 1 + (-1)
This basic energy is created when matter and anti-matter is created during Big Bang.
Before that, there is nothing (0)
After Big Bang, there are matter (1), anti-matter (-1) and basic energy.
This basic energy is "creator" holding our universe, galaxies, solar system, star, planets....
So, how Big Bang can happen? I don't know...
Before Big Bang, it is called singular point (0).
If I know singular point, it is not called "singular"!

Unfortunately there is no answer :(
No one knows what created the Universe! As far as science is concerned, all the matter during the Big Bang created the Universe.
But who created the matter? This is the ultimate question! Who created hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen? This is a mystery!
Very good question! Unfortunately, we will never know the answer in our lifetime :(

As far as the bible says God was the first and there was none before him and that it was God that created Heaven & Earth.
As for the Big Bang...Its a theory and I think its a flawed theory.

here we can only say that Universe was created in Big Bang (which destroyed all traces of whatever was before it), and religion was created by people.
