...about whomever they choose (be it a group or an individual), but if your answer contains the words "dumb question" or something along those lines, it gets reported?

And, worse than getting reported, it gets deleted! So, there will stand a question, completely devoid of any redeeming qualities, and it will look as if no one took offense!

I believe Yahoo! has moderators who surf around and delete answers that are not really valid answers. I've received my fair share of violations for leaving the same type of answers as you , but it is all part of playing by their rules. I've thought of fighting the charges in the forum, but it wouldn't produce the desired results. This is Yahoo!'s world, I guess we are all just visiting.

Well, I just found a violations email in my inbox for "Chatting/Personal Communication." I was the questioner. Now here's my question. People leave answers to your question that include personal comments directed toward you, or questions directed toward you. Yahoo has an additional details option for the questioner to use. So, you use that feature to answer the question or reply to the personal insult you received. I usually don't bother, but sometimes it is warranted. So anyway, I replied to some rather vigorous responses using Add'l Details, and then later that day, picked a Best Answer and forgot about it. Now I get a violation, okay fine. But did all the people who asked me those questions and/or posted insulting commentary toward me get violations too? Or was it just me who got dinged on that? I think it sucks, big time. I suspect, since my question was already two days old, and best answer picked two days ago as well, that it's some monitor who has nothing better to do than pick through the old questions. It takes more than one abuse button reply to spark a violation doesn't it? I thought it took three, but I could be mistaken. So what user keeps such track of questions that they checked to see who I picked for best answer and THEN decided to hit the abuse button? It just doesn't make sense. Is anyone else experiencing this type of thing?

Okay, I understand that technically it's a strict question and answer forum. But I think we all know it's a bit more than that. If they deleted every question that had exchanges via add'l details and edits by the answerers there wouldn't be very many questions left.

By way of example, are you saying that if someone called you a pinko Commie, Anti-American, Blame America First Liberal or something along those lines that the answer would be deleted?

If so, I, too, can't explain it.

I think it is the other way around on here.
People call you all sorts of names when you ask a question just wanting to get an answer.
