There is a way to change your SSN if you can prove keeping the old one is a hardship for you, mainly as a result of identity theft.

You can't change your SSN without filing false documents - a criminal act.

It willl be harder to prove you are you if you change your ss. Why not get an identity theft protection plan, that will monitor and restore your identity. I have one and can sleep at night knowing we are protected.
