I don't think we should create whole clones. (Not because it's "God's work".) Who would parent it? The world is overpopulated enough. We don't need to create clones. However, I think cloning could be used to make great advances in medicine. If you put in genetic material the embryo will grow according to the gene's "instructions". We could grow valuable cells that don't regenerate themselves. Imagine growing nerve cells so paraplegics and quadriplegics could regain the use of their lost limbs.

Whether or not I am in favor of it is beside the point. The government has no right to regulate cloning, since there is nothing mentioned about it in the constitution. If we amend the constitution, then maybe the federal government will have the authority to ban it.

Personally, I don't have a problem with it, especially with embryonic stem cell research. The idea that each embryo is sacred is a bit much for me, and the medical advances in the field far outweigh any cries of sanctimony from the religious Right.

I don't think tat we should clone humans. for example, if someone was cloned to take a loved one's place, they may feel like they were less valed then The Original Person. Some people may say cloning people for organs may save lives, but think about this- once a clone is created, they are real people and deserve their rights. also, in the futere peple may think of clones as less valuable then originals. Another reason that clones shouldnt be created is- what if the DNA used has abnormalties? the clone may come out deformed or a new strain of disease may be created I belive that clones shouldn't be crated.

In a time when humans are ruining the planet and corporate greed threatens to destroy us all, I think it is time for scientists to stay out of things they where they don't understand the consequences. We, all of us, don't understand the long term consequences of the drugs we take, the cosmetics we use, the food we consume, pollution and on and on. Most of the people that want cloning want it to make the almight dollar. You are already drinking milk from cloned animals and eating cloned vegetables. Are you sure you want to? I want my great-great grandchildren to look like me. If they screw up like they have with everything else, it could be very bad. You and I don't really have a choice, it will be done by those that have the big $s. It's like do you really think your vote will choose a president? Who picks who runs? It's not us. Let's applaud those people who set up the electoral college so that the popular vote doesn't even choose who becomes president. I digress.
