I've noticed that america is called land of the free. But this strikes me as just plain BS. If America is the land of the free, then why are we paying money to live in homes? We pay money for everything such as transportation, food, homes, and just about everything you can think of. It even costs money to be buried and have funerals. I know alot of people see nothing wrong with working for money but think of this, we werent always using money if I can remember correctly there was a time when we didnt use money, we built our own homes and hunted it didnt cost us jack #$%%! I dont believe money makes life better, all it does is cause problems because people are obsessed with it and greedy and would do just about anything to get it. Animals are better off than us, they dont need any damn currency to survive, it doesnt cost them anything to live, they're the ones who are free.
money just makes people greedy, and no one forced us to live like this, we chose to its our own fault.

True enough about the animals being more free. But I would point out that in the animal world, you either kill or are killed. If you aren't fast enough to either dodge the predator or fast enough to catch the prey, you die. And not just any death, the long and painful death of either being eaten (usually the predator begins eating you while you are still alive) or of starvation (which takes a few months and can leave you incapable of moving at all near the end).
Money doesn't make people greedy anyway. People are naturally greedy of their own accord. Go back to the barter system and you (humans in general of course) still try to get the most stuff while giving away as little as possible. Or you could go back to animal life; free sure, but I doubt you'll have the time to care about it. Another predator after you, prey about to get away; you better get on it before time runs out.

America is free in the sense of free enterprise. We are a country built on capitalism & one of the few countries were if you have an idea stupid enough it can make you rich. Where in other countries your wealth is decided by your status at birth. Although, America is headed in that general direction. Freedom of speech and press and all that BS are simply promises part of the grand illusion of American "freedom". You have to picture the president as the wizard, you and your friends are dorothy, the scarecrow, the tin man, and the lion. The wicked witch is played by the media. Once you clean up the proproganda with a lil water and take what you've learned to the highest place in the land. The jerk off will tell you he can't help you & it was all inside you in the first place. Thus, another American freedom...the right to screw each other over for our own gain. So, you can hate money and consider it the route to our evil, but America is one of the only places where you have the right to make as much of it as you can as long as you don't have a problem screwing over the little guy. As for the guy talking bout the taxes. Those high taxes are the reason those countries have free healthcare and low prescription drug cost. If you took the money you pay into your health plans and drug cost you'd come out cheaper paying the higher taxes. You don't know any better but its not your fault its the damn media. Americans have been programed the word taxes = baaaaad.

Sweet pea, I think you need your head examined first. if there is a working brain in there.
You have taken the word "free" out of context and misunderstood its meaning. Which country that you have visited have given free homes, transport, food and just about everything you can think of...and yes even yoiur funeral and plot of land to be buried.
Otherwise, you are free to leave America and stay in the country that do provided from the time you are born till you are dead. Opps....you work as a slave and not paid a cent. The clothes you wear, education.....and yes the PC you used to type your posting.... all own by the very government or people who cltohe, feed and educated you. Put a roof over your head....Oh no...not your parents darling....
Oh ya, another option....live in the woods/forest/jungle and make a cave your residence.

If it wasn't for the way things are, money included, you wouldn't have made an appearance on the earth. You would rather not be or would you settle for some crackers and cheese with your whine? Money is a medium of exchange. Humans have always used something in exchanges with other humans. It became efficient to use money as emblematic and standing for labor. Of course it is abused. The love of money is the root of all evil. Not money, but the love of money. The utopian idea that we should have a moneyless world is a non-productive idea. After the consummation of all things, there will be no money to concern anyone. Til then, do the best you can.

and yeah it is not as free as u think.. but I have to say.. money has nothing to do with freedom... if u have to pay for every thing that doesn't mean that u r not free... there is no connection between both points ;-)

yes, what you said makes a lot of sense to me. I too had to struggle through life and it was not easy.
It will take a lot of hard work and then you will have to struggle before you get to ahead in the U.S. I did not get my break until I was 33 and then I got a lucky break in getting a good job.
Education is the only answer to raising your station in life. I know this is a stock answer but good jobs are scarce and it does not look like the American Dream is going to be getting any easier.
By the way there is no free lunch in this country. I know you heard that America was the land of the Free but this means you can go to church of your choice, vote, blah blah blah but this freedom does not feed the bulldog.
If are not born into money or marry money or win the lottery you are going to have to get off your duff and work your butt off !!!
I tried the path of least resistance but wound up having to spend 30 years working in a factory. but i did marry well and we did not have any kids and she always worked too..see you need more then one income..but its your call...good luck in paying all those taxes and insurance premiums..these will go on forever...amen

The national anthem of the United States calls America the "land of the free." It is NOT speaking of money, it is speaking of liberty.
Liberty is defined as:
The condition of being free from restriction or control.
The right and power to act, believe, or express oneself in a manner of one's own choosing.
The condition of being physically and legally free from confinement, servitude, or forced labor.
Freedom from unjust or undue governmental control.
A right or immunity to engage in certain actions without control or interference: the liberties protected by the Bill of Rights.
And we must remember that with this liberty comes a responsibility: to see that these liberties are protected not only for ourselves, but all who live in the United States.

I'm thinking that it was Eastwood who later realized that he was used by both the auto industry and Obama. He's a big boy, he knows when he is out of step, and praising the auto industry and Obama was a mistake. By the way, Obama's pet project, the Volt, has been discontinued for now and perhaps indefinately !

I don't mind paying the person or business for something that I buy or a service that i need. The problem is that government taxes it, usually multiple times.
Your house gets taxed every single year, as does your car. At least when you buy a TV, you only pay tax once.
So, it's the government that makes us unfree, not money.
By the way, your wages are taxed too. Taxed when you earn, taxed when you buy.
That is tyranny.
