Guys, I got an 80 GB on my Windows XP Pc, plus I also have a spare 40 GB drive with some important programs and Windows 98. Is there a way to make a single volume out of these two drives or do I have to hook it up as a slave on my PC?
Thank you anyone out there for your assistance.

I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some drive problems can be easily fixed by yourself using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.

What you are referring to is creating a "Spanned Volume", you would need to backup the 40Gb drive, then format/partition that drive so it can be merged with the 80Gb, and seen by Windows XP as a single volume. You must perform the task in the "Disk Management" MMC included with Windows.

Otherwise, indeed slave the beast. Adjustment to the Boot.ini file might be required if you plan on setting up a dual boot system.

It depends. If they both are Internal hard disks, so one them then can be the master and the other one Must be the slave. because the motherboard can only deal with one master hard disk at the time and not two.

that's conceivable to do, notwithstanding quite demanding. you should purchase a gadget noted as a RAID controller (that's exceptionally intense priced) and performance both drives artwork jointly like one. which will double the demanding force speed. you may also use a software RAID controller, yet meaning you should reinstall abode windows and proper set it up throughout installation. i'm no longer effective a thanks to attempt this, yet there is probable a handbook someplace. attempt searching for RAID 0 abode windows setup.

You are kind of stuck with the Master/slave configuration. The only real choice you have is which is Master and which is slave.
