It is a very tough situation. The COO is there because he/she knows someone powerful at high levels.

Wisdom, integrity and honesty has little to do with how high a person can rise within a company, look at guys like Kenneth Lay, Dennis Kowalski, Skilling, etc.

Your best course of action is to ignore the guy, and if you can't just grin & bear it. If you really cannot take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

I had many encounters just like yours during my career and if you're on the lower rung of the ladder, you don't have much recourse.

Of course, if you can get a photo of the guy in a compromising position, you may have some leverage......

Favourite Slogan, Motto or Word of all times.
You are Fired!
Scenario alike of my elite of the elited in my country with a rocket high salaries. lol...Sound Butt favourism to me.

Politician's game come into play shows a man is already incapable of.... Whose word is that?

CEO or COO is the vital man in the corporation. If he is farting suck, do u know the word of profit and lost?, the corp in charge loses money and lose money lose job and your income, do u understand or u don't understand these words? That's why we have so many jobless people in the market! If the CEO u care for such as support u, lead him and show friendly sign, why aren't any more jobs open to the market? Damn, what the the hell is HR department for?

Running a corp or business is the same like military and military management is the same like running a business. What u think as a private soldier if your general keep sendning men to stupid death in war because of B.S. and know nothing.
Also, the higher u go, the higher pay u got, u won't fight for the best instead u turn to play the safer side and keep on protecting your rice bowl...

Vice vesa, the lower u are, the lower pay u got, the harder u strive for excellency to have a good life. Of cos, not by evil ways mean such as buttass licking becos i encourage the right way of striving to excellency. U will rise yourself into greater risk because you got nothing to lose when u got nothing in your life.

Did u know that a company earn the best highest profits when just started compare those have been many years and this apply to product selling too? e.g. Mp3 harddisk player. A hot cake selling and now? lol

lol! simple art of survival also don't know, already give me a thumb down, hahaha...

Who am I? haha......Where am I from? What's the hell I am talking about? lol......

I was in a similar situation a year or so ago and I finally had to quit because I let it get to me and it got to my health. All you can do is survive and try to keep yourself healthy and not let it effect your life away from your job. I don't regret quitting. I now work at a job that is a joy instead of a burden. You might want to think about quitting and finding your bliss. Good luck!

If you work for him, your fate is tied to his.

Is a decent guy, but just ignorant? Or is he a two-faced lying weasel who takes credit for his underlings work?

If the first, you just try to make him look good and succeed. If you help him, he can get you the raise or whatever. If the later, update your resume, and find a new job.

Unless you are the CEO, not a damn thing you can do about it but do as he says. You get your check....if stuff doesn't work out, it effects his profit sharing, so he loses, not you.
