Hi. I have a dance coming up on friday ( first one) and I was wondering, how exactly do I slow dance. I know HOW, but could someone explain to me where do I put me feet, like are they supposed to be offset or outside of hers, etc. If someone could just explain all of it, that would be great. I am a guy. Thanks!

You can put them anywhere. But not too close together. Just apart.

Slow dance is really the social style of ballroom done poorly. If you had more time, you might consider a few lessons. As it is, I'll give you a rough idea of dance position and you can fake it. Forget the feet to start. Take her right hand in your left hand. Your elbow should be to your side, neither behind nor in front of you. Your right hand should go on her left shoulder blade, unless it's your girlfriend and she doesn't mind having you step on her toes, in which case you might risk putting it in the small of her back. This frame is the most important part of the slow dance. A firm but gentle frame defines your space and her space, so you're less likely to step on each other. It will also put her slightly to your right, so the two of you are not in the same "track," making it even less likely you'll step on her feet. In theory, if you step forward with your left foot you'll be stepping slightly outside her right, and if you step forward with your right foot you'll be stepping between her feet (it's her job to move out of your way, so when you're stepping forward with your right, she should be stepping back with her left). I say in theory, because until you've had a bit of practice I'd suggest you limit your steps forward and back and concentrate on side-steps, perhaps with a little rotation as you go. If you step a small step to the left with your left foot, say 8 or 10 inches, then step your right foot so it's right next to the left, and repeat, you've learned the chasse, and taken a step to becoming a dancer. Good luck.

well when i was a youngster the hardest part for me was asking the girl, after that it was my arms at her hips, her hands about my neck, move slowly clockwise. just slide your feet back and to the left slightly while rocking 3 - 4 inches at a time. the key is eye contact and keep the conversation about her while dancing.you've officially been pimped.

As long as your feet aren't on top of hers it won't be a problem. Just go out there and try to cop a feel, champ!

Have your sister, an aunt, a cousin, a girl who is a friend or your mother give you a quick lesson. It's real easy

Frequently observe another pair and imitate. It slows down a lot.
