I read once that those old timey days corset/girdles that were worn constantly by women in the day, actually got sort of molded after awhile--their figures from wearing those tight things all the time. anyone out there know anything about that?

well i had my daughter 13 months ago and i have been wearing a girdle everyday since my 6th week aftering having her and it has done so much for me i was a sz 2 b4 i had my daughter then when i was pregnant i got up to a size 12 ___OH MY-- now im a size 4 so i know that it does some-what work that is if you wear it every single wrenching hour of the day which is so hard when you go to the bathroom i think they need to invent something like simular to mens boxers it would be easier for women to wear those things then there wouldnt be that much of a fuss over them but i would suggest that...for a gurl...that needs to shape or tone her body...but they are very time consuming and you have to buy the full body ones for them to work and sometimes they can be very expensive and hard to come by.. well hope it helps ya : ) good luck on finding one you feel comfortable in if you decide on wearing one anytime soon !!! : )

I don't know, I suppose if these corsets were worn everyday for years this could slow the expansion of the women's rib cage somewhat but I can't imagine any other part of her body.

Of course when a "cast" or something constricting is first removed from one's leg or arm the tissues look shrunk because of less hydration to that area but that's only temporary.

Years ago, in certain areas of China, women would "bind" their feet. This binding would stop bone growth and result in very tiny deformed looking feet.

Yes, they will mold you if you wear one constantly. This woman on Tyra Banks show had to have the smalled waist in the world from wearing one of those all the time. But she looked deformed and very unattractive.

It probably wasn't permanent but like if you wear a tight bra for too long, you get the marks that stay for a while.
Children didn't wear them so i doubt it molded the bone structure, except by giving you good posture.

It is true that it shaped a woman's body. It also cramped the organs which would include the lungs. It would cause women to faint easily which perpetuated the belief that women are the weaker sex.
