I don't think there will ever be another product comparable to the Playstation 3…
eventually someone is going to release a whole new world of gaming technology forcing the rest of the industry to catch up…
Nintendo has started to do this with the Wii…but virtual reality and whatnot could very well be upfront and centre in the coming years.
besides marketers rarely are capable of counting past 3…if there is a new PS, it will probably be something like PS2000 or PSUltimate, PSExtreme, PlayWorld…SuperStation…whatever you want…
They would never keep going with the numbers like that
All in all its based on the market and the level of technology in it. If someone else quickly released a much more advanced product, Sony would either have to improve the PS3 or scrap it.

Well, it will be a good 4-5 years before Sony even contemplates using the name "Playstation 4", but I think it will a year or less before Sony introduces a different enough box to make the early buyers feel pretty shafted.
Most likely, I think Sony will soup up the "media center" aspect of the PS3 and try to market the thing even more as an all-purpose entertainment supertoy.

No, generally new console introductions are between 5-7 years apart.
There may be new configurations of the Playstation 3, but Playstation 4 is a long way off.

okay here is how it works the ps2 was made evrybody had to have it..... afew years later they made they made the skny version ....everyone had to have that.... then they made the silver version everyone had two have it.....then we got psp haaaad to have it ...... and now we have to the ps3 over the years the ps3 will become smaller or in different colors etc.its the flow of teknology its how the bussines people make it work and get a fourtune on income everyone has to have the latest teknology but i dont think there will be any ps4. its got no ring to it but any way just watch youll see im right !!

The PS2 (which is still in production) came out in 2001. Don't go looking for a PS4 until at least 2011.
