The correct way to ask this question is not "shape", it's "volume".
The shape of a candle has no direct impact on burn time. That would mean that a square surface of some area would burn at a different rate than a circle of the same area, or of a triangle of the same area. This is not the case.
However, as the volume of wax melted by the flame's heat increases (larger area, same depth), the candle takes longer to burn because it is the WAX which burns, by traveling in liquid form through the wick. Proper placement of the wick(s) can lead to roughly equivalent burn times for several different shapes ... assuming they all liquify the same volume of material.
The real answer to the question is that a candle which has a larger VOLUME burns longer than one with a smaller volume - independent of the actual shape of the candle.
