He "discovered" gravity. Kinda more like just named it. But he wrote laws of physics.

Newton is the first to challange the Medieval impetus view of physics, where objects move because they have impetus (very similar to work-energy theroy) with the idea of Newtonian physics which is the study of forces which change the motion of an object.

This is a very revolutionary idea, as it really flies in the face of everything people thought at that time (and what most people commonly believe today).

He is most famous for his first three laws:

First law: An object's motion will not change unless acting on by a force.

Second law: quantifies the first law: F = m a

Third law: Deals with force reaction pairs.

Issac Newton was the Scientist that discovered basic physics laws such as the laws of motion which state that the action of an object remains in that state until it is acted upon by an external force, the relationships between the object, it's actions and the force acting on in (F = ma), and the law of action and reaction.
