I've visited Boston several times and think it's an awesome city. I'd like to get some opinions on the city from anyone that lives there. And just a tiny bit on your opinion on the real estate market..just as far as prices go compared to Chicago, NYC.

thanks.

Awesome city. I lived there for several years and have visited family all my life. The cost of living is higher for housing, but just like NY if you live in the city, your housing cost is offset by the fact that there is no need for a car and its related expenses. My sister lives on Manhattan, so I've got experience with their real estate as well, and my honest opinion is that NY is still higher in housing costs. Boston comes in a close second right up there with San Francisco, but all places with high housing are usually balanced by the fact that cars are unnecessary.

Real estate is one of the highest in the country. It's a nice city because it's not too big, but big enough to offer a lot, especially sports and culture. You get the ocean too. A city on water offers a lot. Like any place, you have to find your groove. There's something for everyone.

The real estate prices in the city are outrageous..much more expensive than Chicago..not as expensive as Manhattan...you can find a decent condo in Southie though.

I live in Boston and I love it here. It's more expensive than Chicago for sure, comparable to Washington DC (where I grew up) and NYC (actually cheaper than Manhattan) and also somewhat cheaper than San Francisco.

Prices are insane. One of the primary reasons I left. Traffic was reason #2. Cheaper than some parts of NYC. More expensive than Chicago. You couldn't pay me to live in Southie.
