Doc I usually agree with you but this time I agree to disagree.
in some cases you are right about the jobs you describe. Parking lot attendants are entitled though to at least 5.15 per hr. Or they will sell the cars off and you cant blame them or we can get all the illegals in to take over? People cannot live on this wage today and there are more and more people starving here. This is fact. We cannot go back and correct mistakes that have been made?
City governments and Federal government and the Unions made it unaffordable to have the average little guy in business. They all were a part of this problem. unions lost us the factories. Foreign investment groups took our guys overseas to Japan, Mexico, China, Singapore, Taiwan, South America, etc., and it is incredible how fast it was they all deserted us. We need our companies to come back here. We tried to do that in the 80's and now we are begging China to set up here in America like we did Japan, the Koreans are already here. And now we have no companies owned solely by America? Who are we the mish mosh? So there is not going to be any security with health benefits for anyone unless they socialize because China is not going to pay for it they can easily go home. None of them will pay us and we will all be slaves just like before 1774. There are many slackers all over the world but for the most part we are a hard working country if our Government would not try to make welfare recipients out of us by eliminating our companies like they did before. Look at Fuji Hunt they are owned by Japan and Canada?
How about Wal-Mart? Used to be soley owned but not with JB Hunt? Do you know the Hunt family supported Hitler? These people have no loyalty to the World let alone the country they are from? They are untouchables as they were called when they were the top 400 back in the days of old, Rockafellers Rothchilds, Krupps, Wehr, Reichwald, Schneider, etc., now Halliburtons, on and on right? We do need a balance soon or we are all in trouble.

Okay, I'm giving you a choice: You can either accept a minimum wage hike, or a maximum non-adjusted gross income ceiling. The most conservative of economists would probably say, "neither," and the most liberal of economists would probably say, "both."
As for wages rewarding this person and that person, slackers and diligent, loyal, obedient, hardworking people... give me a break. It is no secret that I could work my heart out 10,000 hours a week at a minimum-wage job and still make less income than some people. Talk about rewarding slackers! IT'S TRUE!!
It is also true that there are lots of people with no education who make great money. But there are also lots of people who make great money without making money within any kind of legal business framework. See, when you go to buy a new BMW™, no one cares where you got the money. When you buy a Happy Meal, no one asks where the money came from. So, there is a whole world of people out there making loads of money without actually doing what we would legally define as "work." AND, there is a whole world of people out there making loads of money by simply buying and selling securities and debt instruments - another activity that doesn't pass strict muster upon consulting a reasonable definition of "work."
And as long as we can be sure that hard work doesn't pay, we can expect more of the same.
If 'only big corporations with billions of dollars can afford to pay the higher minimum wage,' then I would suspect we will see a lot more small businesses come into existence.
So, which is it... an increase in the minimum wage, or a cap on income?

Yes, that is true. The amount a server makes in a night in tips is added up at the end of the night. The server is supposed to record how much he made. If that amount doesn't add up to whatever the minimum wage is, then the employer must make up the difference.Remember also, that the server usually has some side work to do at the end of a shift. He is not getting tips during this time. As far as lying about tips, yes, it is done. I used to work as a waitress and people would lie all the time about how much they made because they did not want to pay taxes on all of it. But when I worked as a waitress (25 years ago) no one did anything about it. I don't know what they do now.

It wouldn't be reasonable to pay anyone $3.00 an hour for any job, as noone ( aside from children, who are not allowed to work and some illegal immigrants) would be willing to accept such a low wage due to the cost of living. Also, a wage that low would not allow for any disposable income for the worker, which could be spent or saved and put back into the economy to multiply. They would not be able to even afford the basics and would be forced to seek state assistance, which ends up costing EVERYONE more...a decent minimum wage just makes good economic sense...

Lets see. At 3.00/hr. X 40 hrs. = $120.00/week. At that rate, one could work full time and not only be homeless, one would also be hard pressed to eat.

There already is a law, that's why it's called the minimum wage.
