could anyone tell me a social policy out there that would affect my future posistion as a human service worker? I am going into child protection.I would appreciate any help!

one that comes to mind is "NO CHild Left Behind." I think your job in some cases will become involved with insuring the protected children must attend school.

In our country it's called "Every Child Matters".

Policies affecting many things will impact a child protection officer, e.g. the current planned change in the law about gay adoption..... policies on paedophilia such as the sex offenders' register.... whose law prevails when a child has separated parents, one here and one in another country like Mizbah Rana (aka Molly Campbell)..... policies on bullying.... ASBOs.... there must be several dozen relevant policies.
