One of the basic questions when looking for extra terrestrial life is - How many planets are there outside of our own solar system? Is our sun unique with its oddball family of worlds orbiting around it or do other stars also have orbiting planets?
This computer simulation from the University of Washington shows how proto-planets are formed in stable orbits around a young star In the past decade astronomers have been searching for planets around other stars. So far they have found over 100. Most of these new worlds are gas giants similar or larger to Jupiter, but as techniques improve in this new science smaller planets are likely to be discovered. All of this means that even in our own galaxy there are likely to be millions of different worlds orbiting their stars and some of them could well contain life.

to the guy you don't know:
NO ONE has ever found bacteria on mars.
Put down the crack pipe and move away from the keyboard.
1. I really believe there is other intelligent life out there. The universe is REALLY BIG, with many planetary systems. It would be an awful waste of space if we were alone.
2. The problem is finding it. The universe is REALLY BIG to find Intelligent life out there would require:
looking in the right place at the right time with the right stuff (What if they don't use radio, SETI?)
THEY would have to be sufficiently advanced to have something we could look at.

Depends on what type of life your talking about. Life on the microscopic level is almost certain on Europa, one of Jupiter's moons. All the ingredients are there but theres no absolute proof. All we have so far are pictures from Galileo (satelite). Personally, I absolutely believe in some sort of life in space. But nothing intelligent.

No offense to all you disbelievers available, yet once you think of we are the only smart existence in area, you need to be the dumbest individual i've got ever met! think of roughly it, what are the probabilities human beings being the only smart existence? some Scientist believe that there became smart existence on Mars till the planet became dried up of all its organic components. Forcing existence to pass away. Scientist have actual got here upon drops of water on Mars, and large canyons which they believed was crammed with water. in addition they got here upon micro organism.

If you mean intelligent life that you could speak to.
I would hope that one day SETI will receive a communication but I don"t think it will happen.
