Motel 6 is my favourite hotel chain (read: reasonably priced, clean and safe).
They are everywhere across the US (not on Manhattan of course).

First of all...only choose a national chain.
Local motels are scary.
So, yeah...I'd say motel 6, super 8, days inn....tough question because I don't know your budget.
But you should be able to pay about $30-35 a night, including taxes.

Best Western, Holiday Inn. Try to call the motel itself, not their 800 number since you are more likely to be successful in getting a cheaper room rate than what's on their website.
