I recentley was robbed...it was bad but I've told this story a bajillion times even to the news. It WAS pretty horrible. But you know what? I feel myself being more angry at the dozens of people standing around watching than I am at the four people who kicked me while I was on the ground and stole everything I had. Well...not everything because my iPod fell out of my pocket and a man who was watching picked it up off the ground and stole it while I was in pain. Nice guy.

People stand by because they don't feel personally responsible to stop the attack. They look around and see other people, so they can deflect a majority of the blame because they share most of it with others. If by him/herself or a small group, they might make a move., but few people would do anything when others are around who can also help. Though I'm not much of a fighter, I'm one of those people who feels like it's my duty to take action -- even if it's just verbal or by calling 911.

Sorry for what happened to you. There was a time when people would help in this situation, but at that time the odds were that no one had a weapon, not even the criminal. However today the odds are very different.

Second our society in general is becoming desensitized to violence, it's almost as if people expect it to be part of the equation, so they don't get "all worked up" because it's just the way it is. Sad but true.

All the best to you.

People have become very selfish over the years. The days when Honor and Truth were held in high regard are gone. Its rare to see someone perform a noble act anymore and it reflects poorly on society today.

A woman was raped in public in broad day light during rush hour. Why? Because people don't care! You better call on the lord. On second thought don't, I'm kinda busy these days.

because people are selfish and only care about themselves i mean come on atleast 80% of the population would rather not help a stranger because they could possibly get hurt or worse
