Republicans have a tendency to go to war more so than the Democrats.
Republicans support big defense budgets. This is because war generates money for their billionaire buddies that make the equipment that the soldiers use. They also see war as a way to get people's attention diverted from their failings of domestic policy. Also, wars move economies. The government spends more money on manufacturing, which puts people to work, which drives consumer spending. The only thing is it also creates high debts and over-spending. This over-spending creates a vacuum which begins to hamper economic growth after a war.
You see all the jobs and military contracts that were present go away. This means that people are laid off and factories close. This also means less tax revenue for the government to pay off their big war debts. So America's debt gets bigger with interest and the rest of world starts to lose faith that America can actually pay off its creditors.
This drives down the value of American currency, which makes all the imported products we buy from other countries more expensive. So the next Republican who is afraid of raising taxes because he is afraid that the American people will not vote for him, starts another war. It has been happening since Nixon.
Also to the people that say that Democrats do not know how to conduct a war because they like to chose diplomatic solutions. If it were not for diplomacy, the Allied front would have never been created and we would all be speaking German right now. Remember, it was a Democrat who got us out of WW1 and WW2.
Hey Blackmule, you are forgetting some key things.
The Vietnam war was started by Lyndon B. Johnson, it was however, escalated by Richard Nixon.
The cold war was started by Harry S. Truman, however, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Carter chose to fight this war using intelligence. Regean chose to create the national debt by going after things such as Star Wars and spending billions on new fighter jets, carriers, and missle programs.
Also George H.W. Bush had two wars. The first was in Panama when he decided to send in forces to capture Noriega and build a new government. He also had the first Gulf War, which subsequently sent America into an economic recession.
Bill Clinton never declared war on Somalia. That operation was conducted at the behest of the United Nations. The U.N. went into Somalia because the warlords ahd overthrown the government and they were killing mass amounts of people. The U.S. got involved because the U.N. couldn't get to the warlords to try and kill them. They asked the U.S. to get invlolved and provide logistics. However, U.S. commanders decided to conduct field operatives themselves which created the "Blackhawk Down" incident.
The current George W. Bush also had two wars. There was the war in Afghanistan, which I see you like George have forgotten about. And the second Gulf War.

Democrats traditionally have been the war party. Most major wars were fought under a democratic president. However the dems of yesterday are a far cry from the dems today.

IN AMERICA, republicans are willing to go to war against anything that threatens their values (traditional white anglo-saxon protestant values.) The democrats are willing to go to war for anything that preserves the values of republicans. For example, republicans want to make war with radical muslims, rosie odonnel wants war with radical christians. Democrats want to raise minimum wage, republicans think there shouldn't even be a minimum wage. Basically, both parties are stupid, republicans are generally mean and unsympathetic to people in need, and democrats seem to think that the american way is an ethnocentric way of thinking and has to be eliminated. So it winds up like this, the democrats make sure that we have social programs for poor people and the republicans make sure we are still willing and able to defend ourselves. Kind of a sad situation i think.

I think they want to keep us distracted with petty partisan politics! Its like a soap Opera. It keeps the focus off the the real problems, like our constitution getting tore up! Or the Federal Reserve printing and borrowing our future away! We need a true independent party that are for the people!

Technically the word "Democrat" means radical and back in the 1800's the Dem's were ready to willingly fight for their country but it seems as if the pendulum has swung and now Republicans are more ready to defend our country's freedom

Republicans are more likely to go to war with a foreign nation..Which most of the time is warranted.
Democrats are far more likely to go to war against you by taking away your freedoms and turning our Nation into a Socialist wonderland for them.

well I'd say republicans, but in a good way because in a few words- war is the way to defeat an enemy.
democrats on the other hand will want to have a tea party with the enemy, lick their bung holes, give them some money and some land, and hope that they don't hate us anymore.

It all depends. If there are American interests at stake, Republicans are more likely to go to war. If there are no American interests at stake, Democrats are more likely to go to war.
