If a father learns that his son is about to be responsible for mass killings, what should he do ?

I don't know what he should do but I saw on the news that he broke down and cried while he was addressing the Florida State Congress.

Commit him to a hospital. Mass murder definitely qualifies as "a danger to yourself or others."

A lawyer would get him off saying "He was just role playing. There is no proof he really was going to do that!" Then he would be on the streets, more bitter & alienated than ever.

These kids (columbine & the like) need mental help.

In case you are trying to make a comparison with Bush, as couple here have, would you have suggested FDR be committed? Remember, Japan attacked us, not Germany. Any some suspected he had some involvement with Pearl harbor as an excuse to go to war. (There were conspiracy nuts even way back them!)

Refuse to let him join the military,none of those people from Iraq came here, nor did they start any trouble with us, we would be doing the same now as they are doing now if we where under the rule of a dictatorship that flue in uninvited, we have yet to see any real proof of need to be over their, some fat politician is safe and warm that started all this, how can they sleep at night knowing so many American kids will die over their, my son will never die for stupid politics,--------but if your son is planning this here in the USA well maybe you let him watch too much bad TV as a child, its up to you to deal with him now before others get hurt, REALLY.

Is the father pschyic, or did the child confess to him? Its funny how some fathers over react, the child may just be getting ready to hold up a bank or have a gang war to prepare for. Maybe the child is play acting; notice I did not use a gender!

Call the police. I know most fathers do not want to see their children go to jail, but would rather he die and be remembered as a mass murderer. At least if he hasn't killed anyone yet there would still be hope that he would eventually get out of jail and might get his mind straightened out.

As a parent, it is your duty not only to keep your child safe from harm, but also keep your child from harming others.

He should turn his son in, even though blood is thicker than water. it is morally right and anyone who is old enough to be responsible for mass murder, should have the umbilical cord cut, and live up to his own wrongdoings instead of bringing family into it.

WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT? That's a no brainer question. If you didn't do anything to stop him, then in a way, you would be responsible for killing hundreds of innocent people.
