Anyone who has been through a child custody battle in court will tell you money is a big part of it. Get the most kick-*** lawyer you can. It will cost you but "you get what you pay for". Now-a-days it really isn't about a mother being "unfit". The courts will choose which ever parent seems to be able to provide the best possible care for the child. The courts have Guardian Ad Litems go out to each of the homes. Their job is to evaluate the parents and the home situations. They interview relatives, friends and neighbors. They do background checks on the parents to see if they have a record. They watch how the parents interact with their children, what their discipline skills are like, and how the child responds to the parent. But in the end, it really is all about who has the most money to hire the best lawyer. One last comment, please do not take a child from their mother if they are a good mother and you just want to get back at her because you are mad. Always think about what is best for the child. Never put yourself before your child. It will test your love.

There is a lot of ways to prove a parent is unfit. Lack of transportation is not one of them. If the child is in danger from an unsafe enviroment, if the guardian parent is addicted to drugs, if the child is skipping school constantly, etc are valid reasons to take it to court. If you want custody, plan to show how your home will be better than the current one they live in. Just remember that if you slip up it can mean the child goes back to the other parent.

She needs to be able to provide the child with clothing, shelter, food, and access to educational facilities. As long as she goes the legal route of getting these things taken care of then she is fit to parent a child. Now, if your situation is better, contact an attorney and try to prove your case to the judge. Badmouthing the mother or trying to put her down in anyway will look bad on your part though, so steer clear of that.

Not having a car does not make someone a bad parent. A job either for that matter! If the child is well cared for, clean, fed three meals a day, and free from harm is what matters.

nope. they'll just tell her to get a job. all they care about is the child warm, fed, housed, clothed, goes to school etc.

transportation is not an issue on custody battles.

Get a lawyer. If you go in front of a Judge and use grammar like you just used to ask this question, you will NEVER get custody...you sound like and imbecile.....get the lawyer!!
