I'm not comfortable with the term "straight couples". It makes them sound "normal".
Can we not call them "mixed sex couples" or something??

Suggestions??

I am telling you people have been trying to come up with a new word for gay and lesbian couples for years.. I am sure someone will do it but for now we just have to settle for what we have

Now as for

denverlover90
Gay has more meaning than just a male that loves other males..
look at the first 3 entries from Websters for that.

Main Entry: 1gay
Pronunciation: 'gA
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French gai, of Germanic origin; akin to Old High German gAhi quick, sudden
1 a : happily excited : MERRY b : keenly alive and exuberant : having or inducing high spirits
2 a : BRIGHT, LIVELY b : brilliant in color
3 : given to social pleasures; also : LICENTIOUS
4 a : HOMOSEXUAL b : of, relating to, or used by homosexuals

Cookie... heh he heh
Cookie.. I love it

What, being in a relationship with someone of the opposite gender isn't normal? Only homosexual couples are normal?

Just messin' with ya!

It's just easier to say it that way. You really can carry being P.C too far. I don't equate straight with normal, just as I don't equate gay with abnormal.

Actually, it really bugs me to hear some say, "That's so gay," when they mean something is strange. It's a very weird expression besides being offensive.

Well, you could call them heterosexual...straight is more like a slang term. And I don't find it offensive, actually, I always figured it sounded more offensive to them. Like calling someone square...they are straight, lol!

The only way I could see it being offensive is if they started calling homosexuals squiggles...

Hets or Het couples. It's short, descriptive and doesn't have the Ramrod & Righteous connotation of Straight.

How about opposite-sex couples? Lol don't know what else you could name them except heterosexual couples, but that's too long.

What would you prefer? (Since the world revolves around "natural" gays). If being gay was natural, why can't 2 men reproduce or 2 women? We were made for a man & a woman to be together. And "straight" means straight. "gay" means gay. look it up in a dictionary.

What's wrong with heterosexual? It is the equivalent of homosexual and is linguistically neutral (if not culturally so).
