Possibilities
at the time of formatting sound card may be deleted
so what u need to do is
reinstall a possible sound card software compatible for ur motherboard
supposing u use intelxxxxx mother board search for that motherboard a sound card and install then u will have sound working
it happens when u reformat computer
u can also use ur motherboard drive cd which he computer fellow must have given u in case u don't have that then use this option

Hmmmmm your sound card has probably moved inside your cpu....do one thing, open your casing and check if your sound card is properly fitted in the AGP slot...if not, take it out, blow on it, and fit it back properly...if this doesn't work, then you have to check your cables....wat speakers do you have? usually the speakers have a green jack which you plug in your motherboard for sound output....try it...and let me know!

if your sound card is on-board then it is permanent, but if you are using a PCI or ISA sound card then any one can easily detach it.
if you have a P4 then the sound card is on-board.
but if u r using P2 or P3 then it must be a PCI or ISA card.
i would suggest u to purchase new sound card and install the dirvers and get along with.

I would march right back up there and tell them ..look you moron..I had sound before I came here and know that you didnt reinstall it.. if you still have your original purchase receipt it should list your sound card and if not complain anyway ..if you do they will replace it..
