I got the GeForce FX5500OC (Over Clocked) in my a310. Go to Walmart cuz their prices were cheaper than the internet. Anyway, if I get the 10 then send me an email and I can give you the full scoop on what to do and which card to buy. See there are AGP and PCI cards and you have to buy the right one. They are the same TYPE, but will not fit in each others slots. THe AGP and PCI slots are different. Putting the card in is easy too and I can give you the step by step on how to do it.

hp pavillion a230n has:
Integrated nVidia GeForce4 MX graphics with up to 64 MB allocated video memory and also an 8X AGP Slot (available).

It also has Power Supply - 250 watt, Zinfandel PS2, Regulated

You can disable the Integrated 4MX by turning off the onboard video. This is done probably in the Bios Settings. Nothing to remove as the graphics chip is built into motherboard. 250 Watt Power Supply is not much power, you may want to remove that and replace it with a higher watt unit. The AGP interface FX5200 model will plug into the AGP slot.
