i've had that happen before. usually the green is form bad metal, not gold or surgical steel and from not cleaning it regularly. since it's a new piercing i suggest to clean it a lot with a mild detergent like softsoap. that's what i was told when i got my nose pierced and it is my best piercing my ears still get irritated even though i've had some of them for 14 years. but to answer another part of your question, if ou leave the earring in it should be fine. just don't pull it out. also, clean the backing off and put it back.

Yes a waxy sustance is normal. I took the backs off my daughters earrings every coupoe days and cleaned the ear. Just make sure you don't accidently remove the earring unless you have someone to help you put it back in. If the ear is hurting or swelling in any way the you need to have it looked at.

purely save cleansing the back with the ear piercing answer or rubbing alcohol, that's what I did, too, because of the fact my ears harm to curl the earring additionally. as quickly as I wiped clean it I have been given some yucky crap out and now it does not harm in any respect. desire this helps =)
