It's actually because if you wear a bra for 24+ hours straight, you're doing a few things:

1.) Letting bacteria from sweat and oils get underneath where the underwire goes, and you can cause a build up. Women have actually gotten yeast infections under their breasts from it.

2.) You're cutting off circulation to different areas of your back. you're not going to turn blue from it. But it's been known to cause back problems. It's also squeezing on your back bones, and probably the cause of back pain in the morning. at least is was for me until I was about 18, when i started taking off my bra at night.

3.) it's just uncomfortable....at least for women with breasts 36C and under. Women with larger breasts are sometimes more comfortable with a bra at night.

it's unnecessary and uncomfortable. i remember the exact moment i heard this. it was a sleepover when i was in fourth grade. i didn't even wear a bra yet but sice it was said i believed it for a long time. then i learned that not wearing a bra as much as possible is better. i swear i'm not a hippie. i just like to not have things poking me especially when i'm asleep.

There's an urban legend that says it contributes to breast cancer. But that's bunk. Totally not true. What it will do is prevent sagging, so if you wear your bra to bed, your breasts will stay perkier. :)

It's panties you aren't supposed to wear to bed. Air flow to the genital area prevents yeast infections and other such nasties.

This is just an old wise tale. They used to say it can cause cancer and cause your breast not to grow. Many people recommend wearing one now for support to keep your breast perky.

You might bend the wires or press the latch into your back and men sometimes have accidents trying to unlatch it. Besides, who is going to see you that you don't want to see?
