It's from the water conditions, certain diseases, and a lot more that can just kill your fish. So make sure you don't contaminate the water. Just put chlorine, salt, the heater, and or stress coat. Make sure all of those are well covered and you'll be fine.

GOOD LUCK!

There are too many factors that could have accounted for the death of your goldfish. You didn't say what the other fish were. Goldfish are coldwater fish. Are your other fish tropical fishes?
How long was it since you got your goldfish? Maybe you just bought them a few days ago and they were both sickly or the pH in you tank was way too different so they died. The other fish were either hardier or had been accustomed to the pH levels.. I can't tell you it's something romantic like they decided to take their lives because the other fish didn't approve of the union.. There's usually a very simple explanation as to what happens to your fish if you know where to look. Good luck!

They were murdered!! By the cat? Something in the Tank they were allergic too? Who knows. odds are against it. BUT Goldfish don't have that long of lifespans and they may have caught something from the other fish. its hard to guesse. Goldfish have almost no immune system and supposidly only remeber stuff for 3 seconds

something toxic to that certain type of fish must have gotten in the water..... or one died and then the other one was heartbroken and died minutes later...♥
