I've seen a lot of shady work that isn't that great get hundreds of views and a great deal of comments on Flickr. How do people go about getting recognized on Flickr (i.e. more views primarily) by other Flickr users? I've given a shot at adding more tags but that doesn't see to do the trick. I know a great number of people like my work, because I've won contests with some of my photos and they have also been added to a number of favorites, but the view range seems to have trouble rising about that 30 mark.

I'm not talking about great photographers having bad pics get a lot of views... I'm talking about those that have crappy work, yet still seem to bring in the views.

Any suggestions? Posting more comments maybe?

I think on Flickr there is a "good photographer" community. Yes you have those who think they are good, and they have all the views in numbers, but really good photographers know good work when they see it.

the best way to get quality views, not quantity is joining the right groups AND leaving good comments... positive comments on photos from other users that you seriously like. If you see images you don't care for, don't even open them if possible.

You can then, add the photographers you like to your contact list.

under everyone's profile page, look at the photographers you do like, see what groups they are in, then join the ones you want and feel the best fit with.

So... my answer in order of importance at Flickr would be

1) join QUALITY groups (and appropriate ones)
2) post your images to those groups (do NOT overpost... even if there is no limit to the photos you can post daily, keep it at 5 max... no one likes a Flickr hog!)
3) Add QUALITY contacts
4) Post POSITIVE comments to photos you actually do like, and in your comments be as specific about what you like. (I am much more likely to check out someone's work when they have posted an intelligent comment to one of my photos)

Good luck!
