I'm unhappy where I am, been here about two years and now planning to leave. Should I move back to the city I was living in
previously for a number of years which I liked or should I move on to somewhere new ? Career-wise its pretty good for me
anywhere so that doesn't make the decision any easier. I don't have any personal commitments or relationships to worry about either. It should be simple really but I'm totally unable to come to a decision.

Why did you leave the city where you came from in the first place? Depending on your situation, you might find that a new city might be refreshing. But you would have to be more careful in choosing the location so as not to find yourself miserable.

On the other hand, if you were happy where you came from, why not go back? Familiar territory can be a good thing. Although, a new territory does present new and interesting new experiences for you.

Either way, take your time to make the best decision for yourself.

Good luck and I wish you well...

One can move back to a space in time and even relive the same situations or feelings, but one can never move back to a place in time and expect it to be the same since physical things change constantly. I remember when I was gone from home for one year and went back home and I was disappointed, so I never looked back again. But, I have relived spaces in time, went back to an old feeling, or with the same people, or repeated something I enjoyed with the same outcome as prior.

When it comes to careers I think you need to move forward or you will lose what you have. Maybe your prior city doesn't have jobs or further education or more learning of any kind, then I'd say to move forward and try another city, improve your career and your money, invest in real estate, educate more and find a wife and start a family. There's something in the bible that says when you grow up you leave behind the things that were of a child's mind and you mature and take on responsibility and leave your parents home and become your own person. But in the end it's up to you to weigh the pros and cons for yourself and for only you to make the decision. If you could go back home and improve it there then go ahead. If you look for a future and could not find a love back home then move on. Perhaps you are still young enough to return home for a visit, and making good money you could make those visits. There's also another saying something like when you make a commitment the world works with you to make things move in your favor. So whatever you choose is the right answer. Think about it then commit to your decision, and don't question your decision.

If you can financially go anywhere then go anywhere. Explore the world while you still can, and if it doesn't work out in the next place then go someplace new. You will always have that one place you know will make you happy.

Move onward and forward. You truly can never go back.

I would move back if you were happier there than where you are now
