Free ebook downloads! Eragon, Charlie and the Glass Elevator, The Dark is Rising series, Gail Carson Levine, Carolyn Meyers and the like. I have all of these books in my room in print, but I want to be able to read them on the computer as well. Can someone tell me where to download any of these? Thanks!

Why should they be free? This is a list of current books, that are still under copyright. The author (or other copyright holder) is entitled to payment for them. Why should they be free?

There are a lot of terrific books on-line for free because they are old enough to be beyond copyright protection or because their authors have decided to give them away. (Mostly you get what you pay for in that regard: beware of propaganda and proselytizing.) Project Gutenberg has a wonderful selection, and you can find others if you look around a bit.

It's a recent book, so it is under copyright protection. Unless the author puts it online somewhere for free, or your local library has an e-book version available for download, you are probably out of luck. If your local library does not have a paper copy, see if you can get it from another library through inter-library loan.
