Film and television are much more technical than they used to be. And a knowledge or skill in a technical area of the television or film industry will also get you into the inner groups of industry offering you opportunities that you may not otherwise get, in meeting people, in understanding the requirements and getting job information. Start to network with people who do what you want to do.

The reason that I say these things is because my brother works for public television, my son is interested in film, and I have seen other people go into communications in school and do pretty well.
However, certain schools tend to lean toward either television production or film production. And you should make certain that you pick a school that has a good curriculum that is respected so that you will have no trouble trying to get a job.

My son was able to shadow a film class and he tends to read, study, watch films a great deal, and to make short films and videos in high school. Do some research on the internet as well.

You're contradictory. You say you want a new start with different people, new friends... And then you are reluctant to leave because your family lives with you, and your friends....But that is just it. It's scaring to leave and have a new start, but it's also a rewarding experience. Check if you qualify for a green card to work in the US. You can apply online, just make sure it's the official website and not some expensive organisation that promises you heaven and all you get is an empty wallet. But everybody can check whether he's qualified. If not, then check out where in Europe there are British communities. I know there are jobs in Germany and Switzerland where you needn't even speak the language but only English. Or try to get a job on a ship, freight or cruise liner doesn't matter. That will give you a lot of time travelling around the world but still have your base at home. One of my best friends was a shop assistant on a cruise liner in the Caribbean for 2 years. She felt like you, just wanted to get out. She then met her husband on the ship and moved to Hawaii and married him. She still has her family (of course) but also her friends back in Denmark. If you feel like you say, then I would have a try. What can you lose? Certainly not your family because they're always there if you want to come back. Besides, if you're British and live in Britain, you can move around the European Union as you like. That is part of the deal. As for me, I have been lucky to attend school abroad in different countries, went to University in Paris and today, I do have the privilege to just get out if I feel trapped. But that is an exception, I know. Good luck to you! Live your dream, don't dream your life! You can always come back home - that's why home is called home.

Well first off not all people need it to be a star. Why did you assume that all people feel that way? But an education and training provides you will a wide variety of observed personalities to imitate and a wide array of personal experiences to reenact.

For one it reduces the amount of time one needs for exploration. Companies don't want you to make bone head mistakes, they want you to screw up doing something amazing.

It also reduces the amount of people that are trying to break into the guilds, a type of screening process.

Even though many people think that if you are creative you can be a great artist, that is not the case; rather being creative is a prerequisite for having the potential to be a great artist.

You can't be a complete goon and survive in the real world. Even in showbusiness. And most times actors/actresses and TV personalities aren't employed in that line of work for their entire lives. Education is easier when you're younger.

this has certainly to do a lot with the parts you want to play, you do not need that much intellectual polish if you look good, but does anyone want to just stop at that
