Frankie Goes to Hollywood (FGTH) was one of the most controversial and commercially successful UK new wave acts of the early 1980s. The Liverpool group was fronted by vocalist Holly Johnson, supported by Paul Rutherford (backing vocals), Peter Gill (drums), Mark O'Toole (bass) and Brian Nash (guitar).

They chose their name because of Frank Sinatra.

There are plans mooted for more dates. However, the band has become increasingly focused on the release of a new album during 2007.

They're a new wave band from Liverpool, England fronted by Holly Johnson. They got the name from a headline in a newspaper announcing that Frank Sinatra would start acting in movies.

By the way, the lead singer is not dead but he is HIV-positive. He lives in Clapham, South West London and he's even got a bit of weight on him.

The band's name was taken from a page out of the New Yorker about Frank Sinatra going on a trip to...well you can guess where.
