Spot Shot carpet cleaner followed by a long hot washing will completely remove crayon even after it has been dried into clothing in the dryer. The only exception is it will likely not be completely effective on towels due to the terri-cloth material.
With 6 kids - I've washed ALOT of crayons :)
To get the crayon out off the dryer drum - spray some rags with WD 40 and run them through the dryer for about 15 minutes

To remove crayon stains that have been melted onto clothing in the dryer, place the stained surface down on pad of paper towels, spray with WD-40, let stand a few minutes, turn fabric over and spray the other side. Apply liquid dishwashing detergent and work into the stained area, replacing towelling as it absorbs the stain. Wash in hottest water possible with laundry detergent and bleach for about 12 minutes (use heavy soiled setting if there is no minute timer on your machine) and rinse in warm water. Special Note:Heat sets stains so clean the drum of your dryer to remove any remaining wax residue by spraying a soft cloth with WD-40, and wiping the drum. Run a load of dry rags through a drying cycle to ensure that your drum is clean. :)

Here are a couple of methods...most sources have mentioned that it does take more work to get the color (if at all) out of clothing...once it has hit the dryer: I got both of these suggestions
off of About.com:
(1)The best way to remove a crayon stain is with WD-40 (also effective at removing crayon from walls). Spray WD-40 on both sides of the crayon stain. Let the solution sit for 3-5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
Rub dish washing liquid into the stained area with a clean cloth, changing sections of the cloth as the crayon stain begins to bleed away. Repeat until the crayon is removed.
Apply a stain remover stick, gel, or spray to the crayon stain. Let sit for 3-5 minutes.
Wash in the hottest water that the fabric can safely tolerate.
(2)
1.)Place the stained clothes on a white cloth or a few white paper towels.
2.)Spray WD-40 or apply a product such as Goo Gone onto the stain. Let this stand for a few minutes.
3.)Turn the clothing over and apply WD-40 or Goo Gone to the other side of the stain; again, let this stand for a few minutes.
4.)Take some dishwashing detergent and work this into the stain on both sides.
5.)Wash in hot water with a detergent containing color-safe bleach, such as Cheer with Bleach. Or use a regular detergent and add color-safe bleach.
6.)Check the clothing before drying to ensure that the crayon stain is gone. If not, then repeat washing.
Tips:
WD-40 can be found in most grocery, hardware, and auto parts stores.
Goo Gone can usually be found in the laundry section of your grocery store.
It might take several washings for all of the stain to come out of the clothes.
What You Need:
WD-40 or Goo Gone
White Towels or Paper Towels
Dishwashing Detergent
Clothes Detergent
Color-Safe Bleach
GOOD LUCK!:-)

20 mule team borax works wonders on crayon. Make a paste with a bit of water, and rub it into the stains. Then rewash in the hottest water safe for the fabric with your regular detergent and 1/2 cup of Borax added to the load. Fels Naptha bar soap also works.
DO NOT use a hot iron, it will remove the wax, but set the color, so the stain will be permanent.
DO NOT use WD-40 in the dryer, it can cause a fire. It can be used on 100% cotton clothes, but will leave a permanent grease stain on anything synthetic (polyester, nylon).

Good luck! Once you dry it it will be tough however Crayon melts with heat, take each piece of clothing and run very hot water on the crayon and gently scrape it off. You may even try a hot iron. Also goo b gone will help.
