I am 25 and saw alot of this while I was growingup and still do see some other 20 somethings getting everything they want from their parents and only thinking of themselves. I think alot of it has to do with different reasons; to both parents having to work and them feeling guilty, our nation thinking were better then everyone else, watching so much more tv/video games that there isn't as much interaction. It is sickening to see kids whine and scream in the stores cause they want a toy and then the parents give in. I would NEVER have gotten by with that when I grew up. We knew not to ask for things b/c my parents couldn't afford it. When I was 16, my parents got me a 10 yr old used car on the condition I had to get a job. Most of the kids my age at the time were getting their parents nice cars or new ones and they didn't have to work at all, plus the also got allowances as well. My friends and I aren't like this and try to help people, but I think sometimes that the media doesn't show the 20's we are trying to make a difference. Which is sad. As long as I know they are other people around my age trying to make a difference, it gives me hope.

I am 27 and I was handed everything I wanted up until a few years ago. I never have thought of myself as better that anyone no matter what they have. I do wish I had been shown the value of a dollar a little earlier on but at the same time I am so happy to have had a childhood and not had to work and was able to concentrate on studies and social activities because now all I do is work !!! I don't think we want everything at the cost of others. Yes there are a few but that is at all ages.

I dont think its just this generation. Look at any generation that has past; in the 90's we had the teens who were into grunge and disobeying their parents. In the 80's we had teens rebelling as well. Its not any certain generation. I do agree that alot of today's twenty-somethings are a little too focused on whats good for themselves (and no one else). Maybe that has to do with our ever growing emphasis on being number one and the best at everything. So in that case, yes, that's partly (and I mean partly) to blame on parents. Its also society itself that has made younger people so selfish.

I also see this and it is simple, they grew up being schooled more by television and the ads on it, their parents like all parents want to make sure that their kids are able to have more and live better than they did growing up, and since most families have both parents working to make this so there was not much time left to spend it with the children so it was just easier to buy them off with things you know play station2 ect. and of course it is not right if your child gets to drive and does not get a new car even if it is better than the one you drive so you give and give and they come to expect more and more

It is my belief that because our parents worked so hard to get us what they didnt have that most dont fully understand the value of a dollar and a hard days work. Not all are this way but the majority. I had things handed to me but still had to work for it, I think it was more of a reward for the things I have accomplished, I love my parents and wish my childhood on everyone.

I'm 22 and I think most people my age are ignorant.
Then again, I think most people in general are ignorant.
If you think my generation is bad, you should see the next one...a generation of children's children.
