Well, I been using classic windows theme on XP for a long time because I'm such a
bare-bones user. Today I figured I'd tinker around with a theme or 2 and actually
use the "current" windows XP start menu. I actually like it, so I've decided to
stay. The problem is.. You know where you would normally see programs that you use
frequently in the start menu? How does that work? I always thought that if I opened like... notepad.. It would show in that left section of the start menu because it was recently opened.

I assumed, I'd load a program up and it'd automatically go into that section of the
start menu. I've loaded several actually. Nothing. I even tried loading the same
application several times. Nothing again.

I checked the properties>start menu>customize>general> Number of programs on start
menu is 6..

Sooo, the question is, why wont it record my programs I use often?

Thanks in advance,

Dominick

I've set the numbers of programs on start menu to 6 and was able to put 12 on there. I've also hit the "clear" button and it didn't clear anything. Not that the clear button is what I care about..

All I'm asking is... I thought the Windows XP start menu was supposed to record the programs you already used in that spot for fast access automatically?

I'm by no means a computer wizard, but I think if you right click a program, you can pick something like "pin to start menu" and it will stay there.

I'm not a computer genius and I have no idea why it won't automatically load the most used on your computer. I think what the number 6 is referring to is how many COULD go on there should you have them there....However, all I did was take the icon from my desktop and drag it to the start menu and release. This put it on my start menu and now I don't have to go searching for it when I want to use it. Hope this helps!

might no longer particularly be any particular tweaks for this one. The gadget ought to nevertheless be loading stuff. attempt click on start up menu, it would pop up rather lots quickly, then click faraway from start to close it. Does it open and close quickly? Then open it returned and pass mouse sluggish to all courses it would pop up quickly. desire that helps.
