4x/5 - 1/3 = 1

lowest common denominator = 15

12x/15 - 5/15 = 1 ...............(12x-5)/15 = 1

12x - 5 = 15
12x = 20
x = 5/3
--------------------------------------------

5a - 2/3 = 1/6

5a - 4/6 = 1/6

5a = 5/6

a = 5/30
reduce and you get
a = 1/6

4X/5-1/3=1

Multiply both sides with 15 which is the LCD of 5,3 and 1

15/5=3 multiply by 4x= 12X
15/3=5 multiply by -1= -5
15 multiply by 1=15

12X-5=15
12X=15+5
12X=20
----------
12

x=1.666666667

5a-2/3=1/6

multiply both sides with 6 which is the LCD of 1,3 and 6

6 multiply by 5a=30a
6 divided by 3 = 2 multiply by -2= -4
6 divided by 6= 1 multiply by 1=1

30a-4=1
30a=1+4
30a=5
--------
30

a=1/6

4x/5 - 1/3 = 1
add 1/3 to each side
4x/5 = 4/3
multiply both sides by 5
4x = 20/3
divide both sides by 4
x = 5/3

5a - 2/3 = 1/6
add 2/3 to each side
5a = 5/6
divide each side by 5
a = 1/6

Easier if you get rid of the fraction. Multiply everything by 15 (lcd)
12x - 5 = 15
12 x = 20
x = 20/12

3(4x - 5 ) < 9 12x - 15 < 9 12x < 9 + 15 12x < 24 x < 2 NB cope with 'inequalities' comparable to 'equals' different than once you multiply or divide by using a adverse, then substitute the sign around.

(4/5)x - (1/3) = 1
Multiply everything by 15
12x - 5 = 1
12x = 6
x = (1/2)

----------------------------------

5x - (2/3) = (1/6)
Multiply everything by 6
30x - 4 = 1
30x = 5
x = (1/6)
