I can't understand my husband sometimes. He is touchy and somewhat irritable with me a good portion of the time when we are alone. I don't have any friends in the area yet, and he only has a few that he sees once in a while, for short periods of time. He doesn't like to leave the house to hang out with friends, or to go out with me or anyone else. I am willing to go out, so his moods are not because I stifle him. When he has a friend coming over, he will become very sweet to me and loving. When his friend or friends over, he will be the most endearing, playful guy. Yet, when we are by ourselves, he's not like that more than he is. That's how it's always been...even when we were just boyfriend and girlfriend, and even when we were just dating. He always wants me to be around with him when he's with his mates. He goes out of his way to include me, and insists that I don't act antisocial. He can be a sweetheart for no reason too though. It's a sure thing when he's expecting friends though.

He's been this way since you started dating; it's who he is. That's all the explanation you need. You knew he was like this, and decided to marry him anyway, so you got what you asked for.

Odds are he loves you, but is just a tempermental fellow. The next time he has one of these moods, wait until it's over and he's sweet again, then say "you seemed awfully cranky two hours ago; was something bothering you?" He'll probably say no, but hopefully a few callouts like that will help him be more aware of his behavior, and hopefully he loves you enough to change.

The best person to answer this question is your husband. Approach him at a time when he is not so irritable. Since he
has been behaving this way since you two were dating he
likely will not stop unless you let him know how it makes you
feel. Do you want the rest of your life with him to be this way?

Sounds like he has a lot of insecurities. Try to get him to go with you for some counseling and if he won't go, go yourself to deal with the situation. If he really loved you he would not be that way and will agree to counseling and if not, the marriage wil end and the cunseling will heop you with that as well.

Maybe he has some anxieties about being around people or he might be suffering from depression. He can fake happy and comfortable around other people, but you're his wife and you see him all the time. The fake happy gets really tiring after awhile! Talk to him.

Sounds like depression or some type of personality disorder. You need to bring it to his attention of how he acts completely different in front of other people.
