...that's so interesting to people? There are werewolves, mummies, ghosts, zombies...why is it that vampires seem to be the most popular 'monster' in books and other media?

It is the ideal of immortality and the fact that not only do you live forever but you are young as well, you also get to have these fantastic powers like turning to mist, making others do your bidding, turn into bats and wolves as well and you get to stay in human form if you so desire, you also gain strength and speed and you heal fast so also is the allure of the dark in people all folks seem to be drawn to the bad boy image

Because mummies and werewolves are proved to be fictive, but vampires not. Thousand of years B.C. the people alredy had myths about vampires on earth. This thing is more ancien than any other religious statement. So vampires have histoy. Vampirism is an accepted thing nowadays. Psychic vampires lives among us. That's the point.

They're just so mysterious. They live forever without falling apart like mummies. They have fangs! There's good movies about them. They feed off human blood, or other kinds of blood depends on the which stories you believe. There's also a lot of history about them too and it's all so interesting.

Most of my books tend to be about ghosts, or creatures or phenomena which don't fall into any of those categories. Why other people are so interested is a mystery to me as well, but perhaps it's the exotic allure of being strong and nocturnal. Or maybe it's the undead/undying aspect they are attracted to.

It is the immortality and the taboo of blood drinking - and what that represents. A vampire is a monster of carnal urges - sex and killings. They are mysterious, yet beautiful. They continue to weave their spell on people through movies, art, and literature.

I think it's because of the element of dark and threatening sexuality that goes with most vampire folklore. The concept of vampires -- esp. loving one or sleeping with one -- is exciting and scary at the same time, and ultimately very tragic.

And the clothes!
