It was because Switzer didn't want to pass the ball and Troy did.He played for OU for a short time as I understand it, but left for UCLA so he could be a real QB.

After Aikman was hurt against Miami in 1985, a freshman option QB named Jamelle Hollieway came in, and that was that. Hollieway was better suited to running the option, which Oklahoma was running then.

Troy did not have as success as fast Tony. That is what people don't see, Troy didn't have Success till His 6th season, that is true, and he went all the way to the Super Bowl & won. Tony Made the pro bowl in his first season as a starter although he wasn't the Starter till the 4th game, and finished the Cowboys 3rd game of the season after Bledsoe was benched. Tony has a lot of success coming his way, i think a lot of Fans are impatient & upset, which with the talent the Cowboys have, and they are coming up short in games they should win. It's frustrating, All this talent & money invested, and it seems to be going to waste. Now Romo is in his 4th Year, and still making mistakes, but they are getting better in some areas, although it doesn't seem that way. The Defense is getting much better and they haven't had the Penalties they had last season. It's a Mixed success, as they went 4-0 in their first 4 games last two years. Look at it this way, If they lose two more games and go 12-4 this season, just hope it's NOT to Division foes and that things are getting better.

Considering that Aikman is the very prototype of the large, pro dropback passer, and that Oklahoma was married to the wishbone with small fast option QBs, I've always wondered why Troy went to OU in the first place?!? Just 'cause he's from dinky little Henrietta?

Yes, because OU at that time was a run oriented offense and did not pass very often. Troy knew that if he was ever going to get to the NFL as a quarterback, he was going to have to play somewhere else.

Because he hurt his leg, and the so the sooners started jamlie holliday, who as a true freshman, won a national championship. Troy realized that he couldnt run the wishbone and transferred.

Barry Switzer was so stupid that he sat one of the best QB's ever so he could run his antique offense.

He left because he wanted to maybe go pro in the future.OU ran the option offense and had he stayed he would have never made it to the pro football game.
