Solve each of the following systems by addition. If a unique solution does not exist, state whether the system is inconsistent or dependent.
X + 5y = 10, -2x – 10y = -20.

x + 5y = 10 --> x = 10 - 5y
-2x - 10y = -20 --> 10y = 20 - 2x --> y = 10 - .2x

x = 10 - 5(10 - .2x)
= 10 - 50 + x
= -40 + x

x = -40 + x --> 0 = -40

x + 5y = 10
-2x - 10y = -20
multiply the top one by 2
2x+10y=20
-2x-10y=-20
add the top and bottom
0=0, which is always true, so they are dependant (i think thats what that means, but dont take my word for it). thats how you add them though.
