yeah its pretty good. The graphics are nice and they used lighting very well. The dark rooms really set a scary setting. The characters are designed very well graphically. Theres some pretty cool guns and if you get it for the Xbox you can go online with it. Im not sure how big the comunity for it is anymore since it is a few years old.

Yes, Doom 3 is good. If you're getting on PC, make sure that your PC is good enough, as it's graphically demanding.
