Nearly every one of the customers are angry.
I think that they key is that you remain calm and use what the customers says to 'help' them.
so when the customer says that they dont have any money to pay your 'f'ing bill' you say well 'i know money is tight but I would like to explore ways to help you if you let me as I dont want you to go into any more debt since the longer you dont pay this the more interest they are going to add. Is there any way you can come up with xx dollars a week? If and when the cuss you out, you dont take it personal.
You never loose your cool! On some of the younger debtors you tell them that you dont want this debt to keep them from having the things that they might want to purchase in the future and that you will be happy to help them find a way to clear this matter up.
Make it seem like it is a 'we' problem rather than their problem alone.

I never collected debts but I did have a collector go totally insane on me last year over a student loan for my wife that was mistakenly placed into collection.

The more he cursed me the louder I laughed, I took a cruel pleasure in playing him like a prize trout.
He ranted and raved and swore until he nearly had an emotional breakdown. It took the better part of five minutes for him to reach the 'foaming at the mouth' stage but he managed to get his manager's attention and after a while we received an apology both for the error as well as his barbaric behavior. I was slighty guilty of pushing him over the proverbial edge but he acted like a storm trooper at a bar mitzva. Ah well, be prepared for anything in the world of debt collection I would advise!

When I found out that my ex-husband was having an affair (4 year long one behind my back, of course). And to make it worse, it was with his brother's wife--someone I had known since I was 9 years old! Or maybe it was when my ex-boyfriend decided that there would be no more us, so he took his sweet time in breaking up with me (while cheating on me and denying it even after getting caught red-handed). Once he broke up with me, he also kicked me out of a home I loved when he knew I had NO job, money, or place to go. What a jerk!

Well first of all ..let the customer vent out what he has to say, and you have to listen to the customer and see it from their point of view. and keep cool, even tho you might get angry too, itll look good for you and your business with $$$$. Try explaining the situation to help the customer understand the problem. but remember to always listen to what the customer has to say and you mustttt see it from their point of view. and be polite.no rudeness plz
