I purchased a Toyota Scion XA back in December right before Christmas and was told that they are very gas efficent and will safe me alot of money on gas. My experience has not been like that. I think this car is really going to put a hole in my pocket. Before this car I had a Toyota Corolla S and a full tank lasted me at least 7-8 days where as with this Scion a tank of gas is only lasting me 3 days. I took it to the dealership to have it looked at and they told me that there was nothing wrong with the car and they gave it a oil change. Anyone else have stories about these cars? Is it possible there is just something wrong with mine?

I don't think there is anything wrong with you or the way you are driving. I bought an xA in July and, although I love it, I have not gotten the promised gas mileage. I typically get 25 mpg in town and 30 mpg on the highway. My oil change did not help improve this. I did notice that the Corolla holds an extra gallon or so of gas so it would last longer than the Scion even if they had equivalent fuel economy. My previous vehicle was not as efficient as my xA so I am still thrilled that I am saving money at the pump, however, if my previous vehicle had been more fuel efficient I would probably feel differently. Corolla is a great vehicle so your xA has a lot to measure up against for it's modest price. Having said that I still think the xA it is a blast to drive and it is super cute. I hope that the fuel economy issue does not ruin your experience with this fun little car. Good luck! :-)

i have an xb and before i had a cadillac. the caddy held 20 gallons. my xb holds 10 gallons of gas. i usually put the premium gas in and it will last for about 3 weeks before i have to fill it up again. at 3 dollars a gallon it only cost me 25 dollars. i think it's super cheap. i get good gas mileage too. just not on the freeway cuz mine is a standard.

I bought an XA in September 06 and have had GREAT gas mileage. Overall, I LOVE the car!

Remember .. Both are Toyotas.. But i'd stick with the yaris.. because it is spacious. Plus the yaris is actually a reimaged Echo. check the history of the car.

Same experience with my TC, it gets about 7 miles less to the gallon than advertised...
But I love it.

those rating are never accurate but it houldnt be that different from a corrolla. its smaller and 4 cylinders.
