if the newly introduced plant has some kind of advantage over the native plants, then it will thrive, and possibly take over the environment. This is pure Darwinism. The new plants have to thrive in a way that kills off other plants, however. Possible examples are vines that strangle trees, or tall plants that cut off sunlight to shorter plants. If they have no competitors or predators in the new environment, they could grow and spread rapidly and reduce the optimal growing conditions of native plants.

because if the plants do not find any natural enemies that eat or destroy them then they will thrive and when the population goes unchecked then it can growing and growing and growing, until it becomes so big the it wipes it self out. one very famous case was when the southeastern united staes got practically covered with this ivy like plant, the footage was really creepy.
