Nothing original. Before they announced the name of our football team they teased us by saying the name paid tribute to our history and truely embodied who we are as Houstonians. Then the name was the Texans. That pays tribute to our history how? It is the name of our state and not at all unique to Houston. We are apparently not very creative with these kinds of things. It would be nice to have the hockey though.

I would try the Houston Rockets, due to NASA's mission control there. Or perhaps the Hustlers (cattle variety).

I don't know, but i know that they should move to Portland. They could even keep the name and it would still sound clever.
