I'm in my early 30s and thinking of a career change to get into advertising field. Do you think I'm too old/ too late to do it? I don't mind starting low and taking a pay cut to fulfill my dreams but what will potential employers think? Lastly, what can I do to enter advertising, specifically copywriting.

As a person also in the early 30's and looking for a career change. I say GO FOR IT. Frankly, all the career programs I have listen to says Now Days a person has at least 3 or 4 careers in their life time. Frankly, my opinion is that potential employers will want to hire you because of the skills and your experience. Legally, business are not supposed to use your age as a factor ( unless you are in modeling where age is a factor). I am unable to answer the advertising business questions,. I suggest you visit your local career center . I have found career centers at churches, the university, around the community economic security department (the unemployment center).

It is never late, if you know what you want to do. If you have another career start turning it slowly towards your goal. No sharp turns please. For example if you are an accountat, find a job as an accountant with an ad agency, then move into their actual business. If you are a Nurse, start working with Pharma companies in marketing or direct sales or brand management and go from there.
The whole point is to find a paved road to your goal rather than starting from scratch. If you have any previous experiance or education in the field then you can take a sharp turn.
Best of luck.

Potential employers will admire your clarity and determination.
I was just talking with someone today about how things come to some of us later in life (babies in my 30s and 40s), and she pointed out that the Baby Boomer generation (and later) have life expectancies in the 90-year old range (tires me just to think of it...). We'll see folks doing many things later in life, including having second and third careers. Some of us don't even have time to consider a career until after our kids are grown and out of the house.

I don't believe in such thing as too old to change a career. It is more of whether individual is willing to move out of their comfort zone to accept new challenges. However it is the potential employers may think differently coz age is a major concern to them. You need to convince your prospective employer that they are right to employ you as their staff even though they can employ younger staff to work for them

Are you kidding?! LOL
Sorry, I'm not laughing at you, I'm just laughing because career changes are so common, even much later in life. You are in the prime of your life. Go for it!

Copy writing is the creative area of Advertising. If you could demonstrate your flair for language and creativity, age is no bar!
