Simon Cowell should not be on television. He does nothing for the self-esteem of the teens and young people who come on the show. He should work in a back room someplace by himself.

His body language says:

I am better than everyone else
I will say exactly what I mean, nothing hidden
I am bored with bad talent
I am contemplating how to tell you that you stink in public
I am cuter than you and you wont make it
I love women, women that are young and thin and talented
I am the boss

The hands on the face is a ploy to distract others and give him a chance to think. He know that in most cases if he puts down a person the right way the others on the panel will see merit in his descision and back him up. And they do quite often.

Putting his hands over his face is probably just an English reaction just like when chinese women laugh they cover their mouth. His body language says he has a high ego, and probably rightfully so since he appears to be rich.
